One Year Lessons

Don, Taylor's dad, asked us what lessons we learned after a year of living near Seattle. Here are Taylor's:

Things aren't always what they seem.
I like mountains, water, and trees.
Just because it's raining, doesn't mean it's really raining.
You can live in Seattle and not like coffee.

And mine:

There are not less Christians here than in the Bible belt, rather there are less people who claim to be Christian.

It's no longer a big deal to see Canadian license plates when you border Canada.

People here are friendly in a "smile as you pass" kind of way, but not as much of a "open up conversation in the grocery store line" kind of way.

WalMart hasn't caught on in every state. (Don't worry, they haven't taken over the world). :)

It's surprising how many natives to the area haven't explored the places we've explored in our one year of living here.

It is important to enjoy the beauty around you - even if it means just pulling up to the park in your car and staying in your car while you take it all in.

Seattle is actually not that rainy. It is, however, typically cloudy.

I don't seem to experience depression from the lack of sun, but I have noticed I get extremely excited and happy and become all smiles when there are blue skies!
